Ron Nicol spent several years in professional theatre, working in repertory, with touring productions, and in musicals, pantomime, music hall and variety. He went on to lecture in theatre with the University of St Andrews, train radio broadcasters at Glenrothes College in Fife, and produce and present programmes on Radio Tay. He was a drama adviser for the Scottish Community Drama Association, has adjudicated at drama festivals for 19 years, and has been Principal Judge of the Geoffrey Whitworth playwriting competition since 2008. He’s a graduate of Queen's University Belfast and Moray House College Edinburgh, a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and a member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators and the Scottish Society of Playwrights. Ron co-founded Glenrothes Theatre Company with his wife Norma, a former professional actress, and for 37 years has written and directed most of their senior, youth and children's productions. With five writing prizes to his credit, productions of his one act plays have won more than 120 awards between them at English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, American and Canadian festivals. Published in the UK, the USA and the Netherlands (in Dutch) Ron has 52 titles currently in print, and there have been more than 300 productions of his plays and pantomimes throughout Britain, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Holland, Germany, Spain and Luxembourg.
